Wednesday Whimsy: My Top 3 Romance Tropes (Lover Girl Edition)

Hiiiiya! (。♥‿♥。)

I decided to pop in for a quick Wednesday post because my "Lover Girl" heart was feeling extra full today. As I mentioned before, I’m currently writing my own romance novel, and honestly? It’s been such a nice escape from the "real world" and the physical pain stuff.

Since I’m a total nerd for romance, I wanted to share the three "tropes" that I absolutely live for. If a book has these, I am 100% buying it. Like take ALL my money!

1. The "Slow Burn" trope

I LOVE stories like this. I need the tension! I want the characters to like barely touch hands in Chapter 10 and have it feel like an earthquake. There is something so sweet about two people slowly realizing they are the "one" for each other. My own book is definitely a slow burn because I want to capture that shy, blushing energy.

2. "Only One Bed"

This is a classic for a reason, right?! It’s so silly and dramatic, but I love it every single time. It’s the ultimate "forced proximity" trope. Plus, as someone who spends a lot of time in bed because of my pain, I find it hilarious and cozy.

3. Mutual Pining

When they both clearly ADORE each other but they’re both too shy or too "strong" to say it? Ugh, my HEART. I love a character who notices the small things, like how the other person takes their coffee/ tea, or the way they smile when they’re nervous.

I’m curious, to all my fellow readers out there! What trope makes you instantly want to read a book? Are you a "grumpy x sunshine" fan? Or do you like "enemies to lovers"? Do you like the whole “office lovers” storyline? I have a lot of books planned. I’m hoping to have a book published this year.

I haven’t been writing for a bit due to the pain. I find blogging to be easier since I don’t have to be perfect here. Blogs are all about connecting and sharing a piece of my world. However, I take my books VERY seriously so the quality must be better. I want to properly convey the story and angst in each chapter, so I must be well when I write. Haha or at least not in an active flare! Wednesday posts are optional. My post schedule is Monday and Thursday. Catch you guys for my regular post tomorrow!
